Kita-Segakushimon — Hidden Water Mirror

A secret scenic spot reachable only by those who have walked every corner of Himeji Castle. By a small pond near the famous spring Sagi-no-Shimizu, the white keep is miraculously reflected upside down in a water mirror.
The Story
This spot is like a hidden stage within the castle grounds; if you aren't actively looking for it, you will easily walk right past. When strolling around the inner moat, most people simply follow the walking path through Himeyama Park. However, you cannot see this view from that path. It is only when you intentionally step "outside" through the stone walls of the Kita-Segakushi Gate ruins that this secret landscape reveals itself.
There lies Sagi-no-Shimizu. The surface of the small pond next to it acts as a canvas, reflecting the castle like a flawless mirror. During the autumn foliage season, the surrounding trees turn vibrant shades of red and yellow, creating a breathtaking, miniature-garden-like masterpiece of the white castle and its reflection. Because it is so easily overlooked, it is a hidden gem that we highly recommend seeking out.
