Southwest Panorama — Castle in Cherry Blossom Clouds
Castle in Cherry Blossom Clouds / From a Private Space
A breathtaking panoramic view of Himeji Castle from the southwest. In the gentle spring haze, the white keep appears to float on a sea of cherry blossom clouds.
The Story
This photograph captures a spectacular, panoramic view of Himeji Castle from the southwest. As spring arrives, the city is gently enveloped in a soft "spring haze" (Harugasumi). The sight of the white castle seemingly floating on a sea of cherry blossom clouds creates a deeply relaxing and breathtakingly beautiful scene.
In the foreground, you can see the lush greenery of Koko-en, the beautiful Japanese garden built on the castle's former western residence grounds. Beyond it, the entire complex of the Main Keep stands in perfect balance.
This particular photograph was actually taken from a private condominium. Unlike the dynamic views from busy tourist spots, the uniquely relaxed and gentle atmosphere of this image comes from the fact that it represents the everyday perspective of the locals who live alongside the castle.
Out of respect for privacy, the exact location cannot be disclosed. However, through this project, we are thrilled to share with you this exclusive, privileged glimpse from a "secret premium seat" known only to those who call this city home.
