Walk towards the castle, watching it draw closer

Leave JR Himeji Station by the north exit and follow Otemae-dori north towards the castle. Cross Sakuramon Bridge and pass through Otemon Gate to Sannomaru Square.

Before heading to the castle, or on your way back, visit the Castle View observation deck on the north side of Himeji Station. Himeji Castle rises at the far end of Otemae-dori.
